GCG Rahr Iron Thistle Event: Bagpipes!

kalyn2It was like a scene right out of Braveheart – minus the violence, warfare and religious injustice – the Omni Hotel hosted the re-launch of Rahr & Sons Iron Thistle Scotch Ale with style….and kilts.

After receiving the award of National Grand Champion of Scotch and Scottish Ales at the 15th Annual United States BeerGCG Rahr Iron Thistle Event: A bow-adorned keg Tasting Championship, Rahr was proud to re-introduce its prized brew. On February 6, as Rahr representatives and members from local pipe and drum bands paraded through the Omni Hotel main lobby, a keg of Iron Thistle Scotch Ale adorned with a traditional plaid bow by their side, they made a grand entrance into the hotel’s sports lounge.

And thanks to GCG’s planning by inviting media contacts from local newspapers and television stations, securing the venue at the Omni Hotel and providing the necessary requirements for an event of this stature, the party began.

With a few more key notes of Scottich bag pipe bliss, Tony Formby, Managing Partner of Rahr & Sons Brewery, thanked the very crowded Whiskey and Rye sports lounge as the Iron Thistle began to flow. Guests, Rahr supporters and media personnel alike enjoyed the success of a great local business and even better beer.

Through GCG’s involvement and organization of the event, we couldn’t be happier with its success and Rahr’s recognition as National Grand Champion.
